The Three Drums: A Rare Night of Free Improvisation at Theatre of the NO
On Friday 27 November at 21:30, Theatre of the NO welcomes Nikos Touliatos, Nikos Sidiokastritis, Simone Mongelli and Gilad Atzmon for a rare musical encounter: “The Three Drums”.
The performance follows the four musicians’ highly successful meeting three years ago. Rather than a permanent collaboration, it is a unique, one-off gathering born from the meeting of distinct musical paths and artistic explorations.
From percussion and woodwinds to electronics and free improvisation, the evening moves beyond predetermined forms. The sound is shaped live on stage through rhythm, listening and the interaction between the four artists.
With different musical backgrounds and individual journeys, Nikos Touliatos, Nikos Sidiokastritis, Simone Mongelli and Gilad Atzmon have each made their mark on contemporary jazz, improvisation and experimental music. They are also active as bandleaders and creators of their own projects, with collaborations and performances in Greece and abroad.
Their reunion at Theatre of the NO offers Athens audiences a rare opportunity to experience four distinctive musical personalities in an open, unpredictable and fully live musical dialogue.
