Karen Edwards at Theatre of the NO for Two Unique Performances in Athens
Karen Edwards, one of the distinctive voices of the international jazz scene, comes to Athens for two special performances at Theatre of the NO on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, 2026.
A pianist, vocalist, composer and arranger, Karen Edwards has built an impressive international career, collaborating with renowned artists including Stevie Wonder, Prince and Tony Bennett. Her musical journey spans jazz and gospel, improvisation and orchestral music.
Her professional career began in Los Angeles following an invitation from Stevie Wonder, soon leading to international tours and collaborations with major artists. In Europe, she has worked with musicians including Nigel Kennedy, Lee Konitz and Pharoah Sanders, while performing at major venues and festivals across Europe and the United States.
A significant part of her artistic work has also involved collaborations with symphony orchestras and large musical ensembles. She has presented her own compositions and arrangements with Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) in Katowice, as well as orchestras in Gdańsk and Łódź.
Her discography includes Everything Ice, Winter Moments and Moods and Polish Songs, while Everything Ice was nominated for the Fryderyk Award – Jazz Recording of the Year.
For her Athens performances, Karen Edwards will be joined by Gilad Atzmon on saxophone, Yaron Stavi on double bass and Panagiotis Themas on drums. Together, they will present a programme showcasing Edwards’ distinctive approach to jazz, with improvisation at its heart.
