Kragionarismnena Xeilh – An Award Winning Theatre Monologue Returns to Mikros Kerameikos
Giorgis Kontopodis returns to direct the award winning theatre monologue by Gogo Fakou Theodoraki, coming back to Mikros Kerameikos from 30 October to 11 December 2026.
Based on a true story, the play explores the difficult and sensitive subject of violence against women, focusing on the lasting impact of trauma and the ways it can shape a person’s life, relationships and perception of the world.
The Story of Elpida
At a very young age, Elpida experiences sexual abuse, an experience that forever changes the way she sees life, relationships and the people around her.
From that moment on, she creates her own world and a personal shield to protect herself from anyone who might hurt her again. She hides behind a mask, convinced that this is the only way she can remain in control of her life.
Everything changes when a mysterious boy enters her life. For the first time, Elpida feels ready to lower her defenses and trust another person. However, this new relationship will lead her into an even darker experience, as she soon discovers that the worst night of her life has not yet come.
A Powerful Theatrical Journey
The monologue was first presented at a Theatre Monologue Festival and later performed for several years at major theatres. It was also presented in the form of a tragedy as part of a related theatrical event.
The production has received 5 awards, including distinctions for the writing, performance, direction and contribution to literature, with 3 of these awards being international.
The impact of the play has extended beyond the stage, inspiring visual art exhibitions, events focusing on abuse and works by other artists.
For the first time this season, the performance also incorporates a song inspired by powerful lines from the play. The song was composed by Andreas Apostolou together with the Ergotechnion team, adding a new dimension to this year’s production.
Giorgis Kontopodis is responsible for the direction, lighting design and musical supervision, while Gogo Fakou Theodoraki signs the text and performance.
The production returns to Mikros Kerameikos for a series of performances that explore a difficult reality through the power of theatre, storytelling and human expression.
