Mousouri Theater: Theater Performances 2025, Information & Tickets
The Mousouri Theater, with a history dating back to the 1970s, is one of the most beloved and timeless theater venues in Athens. Located in the city center, it has hosted numerous productions featuring some of the greatest Greek actors and creators. Its significance is immense, as it has played a decisive role in shaping the modern theatrical scene in Greece.
Mousouri Theater 2025: What to Expect
The new season at Mousouri Theater arrives with powerful productions, groundbreaking premieres, and beloved leading actors. The repertoire blends contemporary works with classic selections, creating an experience that appeals to every theater lover.
Starting October 1, 2025, the Mousouri Theater hosts the intense psychological drama “MATCH” by Stephen Belber, translated and directed by Giorgos Kimoulis.
A modern psychological drama unfolds with intensity, humor, and deep emotional charge, exposing the fragility of human relationships, the traces left by time, and the power of truth that refuses to be forgotten.
Toby Powell, an elderly former star choreographer of the New York dance scene, now lives in isolation in a quiet apartment. His peaceful routine is disrupted when he receives a visit from a young couple – Lisa and Mike Davis – who ask him for an interview for an academic thesis about the history of dance in the 1980s.
As the conversation progresses, the visitors’ questions become increasingly personal and piercing, revealing that this may not be a simple academic inquiry. The visit turns into an intense psychological confrontation, unearthing a deeply hidden secret from Toby’s past — a past that, as the author himself stresses, never truly goes away.
“MATCH” balances the dramatic with the human, posing questions about identity, fatherhood, truth, and forgiveness. It draws inspiration from Shakespeare’s line in The Tempest: “What’s past is prologue,” reminding us that what we have lived continues to shape who we are.
