Scotet: A Tribute to John Scofield
On Thursday, November 12, Theatre of the NO welcomes SCOTET: A Tribute to John Scofield, a special musical tribute to one of the most influential guitarists in contemporary jazz.
Byronas Dolas on guitar, Simos Riniotis on drums, Giorgos Kostopoulos on bass and Kostas Yaxoglou on keyboards come together on stage, sharing their passion for the music of John Scofield.
The quartet explores the crossroads of jazz, funk, blues and fusion, presenting a programme inspired by different periods of Scofield’s discography. From melodic and blues influences to his distinctive groove-oriented sound, his music becomes the starting point for an evening filled with improvisation, energy and musical interaction.
John Scofield has left a unique mark on the history of jazz, collaborating with major artists including Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell and Joe Lovano. His distinctive approach to the guitar has brought together jazz, funk, blues, rock and fusion, creating a sound that remains instantly recognizable and highly influential.
SCOTET is not simply a recreation of Scofield’s sound. Instead, it offers a live interpretation of his work through the personal sound and improvisational approach of four musicians who share the stage with one of the great names in jazz guitar as their common point of reference.
An evening for everyone who loves jazz, improvisation and irresistible grooves.
