Stories to Think About: A Journey to the Heart of Relationships
Starting November 14, 2026, Mikros Kerameikos Theatre opens its doors to one of the most beloved books of recent years. Jorge Bucay’s “Stories to Think About” is an international best seller and one of his first books to win over Greek readers. Now it comes to the stage in Athens for the first time, adapted and directed by Antonis Karagiannis.
Some books you read once. Others stay with you for years. This one belongs to the second kind, and now it steps off the page to meet its audience in person.
Relationships as a path to the self
What does a relationship really give us? For Bucay, the answer is simple: a relationship adds. It makes us better people and brings us closer to who we are. That’s why it’s worth the effort, even when it hurts. It’s a pain with meaning, because by the end of the journey we’re no longer the same. We’re more mature, more aware, more whole.
A session that becomes a journey
The curtain rises on an unusual therapy session. The psychotherapist doesn’t call them sessions. She calls them “journeys,” and she invites everyone present to follow her on the great search for truth. Roles keep shifting, boundaries blur, and soon everyone becomes a traveler, part of a dream with no clear end.
“…and that’s more or less how my sessions began. Of course, I always felt I was somewhere between reality and dream. And even now… I haven’t quite figured it out…”
Stories that open doors
Bucay’s strength has always been his stories. They’re small and simple, yet they can change the way we see our lives. As he writes, a story “opens doors you had ignored, possibilities you never imagined, roads you have not yet walked.”
The play brings that magic to the stage. Those who loved the book can live it again, and those who haven’t read it can discover it in a new way. You might even leave the theatre not quite the same person who walked in.
