Savina Giannatou & Spyros Manesis: “Seathrough” at Theatre of the NO
Savina Giannatou and Spyros Manesis come together on stage on Saturday, 14 November, at 21:30, at Theatre of the NO, for “Seathrough”.
In this distinctive musical encounter, internationally acclaimed vocalist Savina Giannatou performs songs from across the Mediterranean in a variety of languages and dialects, alongside works by Greek composers. Her voice meets Spyros Manesis’s piano in a live, improvisational dialogue where different musical worlds find a shared space.
Savina Giannatou is renowned for bridging Mediterranean tradition with contemporary and experimental forms. From her early work on the radio series Edo Lillipoupoli and her long-standing collaboration with Lena Platonos, to her international work with Primavera en Salonico and her presence on the free jazz scene, her artistic path has been defined by curiosity, freedom and a constantly evolving sound.
Joining her is pianist and jazz composer Spyros Manesis, whose music brings a distinct voice to the performance. Having studied classical and jazz piano in Athens and at the Amsterdam Conservatory, he has appeared at festivals and concerts across Europe, the Americas and Asia. With six albums as a leader on international labels, Manesis is one of the most compelling artists of Greece’s new jazz generation.
“Seathrough” is an evening of voice and piano, tradition and freedom—guided by spontaneity and the unique connection of live performance.
